The Asian hornet trapping campaign has begun in Bouessay.

📅 Start of Asian hornet trapping

With the gradual return of milder temperatures, the period of monitoring and trapping of the Asian hornet begins in Bouessay.

The founding queens emerge from hibernation in spring when temperatures remain around 10 to 12°C . At this stage, they begin to search for food and establish a primary nest . This is a crucial time to take action.

The traps will therefore be installed now , in order to intervene as early as possible in the season and limit the creation of new colonies.

📍 Setting up the traps

As part of the plan to combat the Asian hornet , traps provided by the Community of Communes of Sablé-sur-Sarthe (Pays Sabolien) will be installed in the commune of Bouessay.

The locations were identified in advance , taking into account the environment, exposure, and risk zones. This approach aims to optimize trapping effectiveness while respecting recommended best practices.

👁️ A prevention and monitoring action

Spring trapping helps to reduce the number of queens and therefore limit the appearance of new nests during the season.

This action is part of a broader approach to prevention, monitoring and follow-up , carried out across the territory of the Pays Sabolien, in conjunction with the municipalities and partner organizations.

📝 Conclusion

The fight against the Asian hornet concerns everyone. Reporting a hornet or nest quickly allows us to act early and limit its spread. Together, from the start of the season, we can reduce its impact on Bouessay and protect our environment.
